A Beautiful Acceptance is the second installment for Alora Kate’s The NYC Series. It picks up from the first book A Beautiful Heartbreak but tells the story of Ki’s best friend Alexa Tanner.

As cliché as it may seem, I still enjoyed reading Alexa’s story. A typical second chance love story but for some reason, they were able to reach a part of my heart. Although it wasn’t really enough to make me cry, it still felt something. I was able to connect with the characters even though I wasn’t really able to relate to their pain or experiences. Although I think that it needs a little more polishing, I still liked that there were a little action here and there.

The characters, although a little typical and predictable for me, was enjoyable. They made me laugh and ache for them at some point, which is a very important factor in a good story. I also liked that the characters are real. Like someone who you can understand and reacts like how a normal human being.

Overall, this is a 4 star for me. Something enjoyable to read and a good recommendation for someone who likes romance and a little bit of action.

About Ker Dukey

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of your seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected. I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up. My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling. When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

Pretty Dolls series has been one roller coaster ride. I loved and liked the first three installments and enjoy the "darkness" within. So I was looking forward to reading the last book. I've delayed reading it long enough and it's about time I jump into it.

I am somewhere between enjoying the plot and being disappointed with it. I don't know which one is more prominent. I was able to finish the story despite the length of time it took me to do it. Some scenes are intriguing, exciting even. But there are some that actually didn't meet my expectations. The first three was awesome to say the least, but it seems like the fourth didn't live up to the standards the others set.

The characters are okay, but a bit dull. All of them full of rage and in dire need of rest. Dillon was so realistic that he was the first protagonist that I actually wished would die. This is fiction and I expect my hero to be what he is supposed to be. A "hero". I started to agree witg Benny that he is a useless detective. Or maybe I just missed the whole point and that Dillon isn't really the character with the spotlight on.

Nonetheless, I would still give this a 3 out of 5 star. I was able to finish the book despite all other factors, so this still deserve a passing score.
